My Experience with the Lord

Hi! I'm Willis Chang from Dunn Loring in Falls Church. Like all of us, I'm a sinful 12 year old boy in a crazy world we don't want to be a part of. I have been coming to church for about 7 years. When I was in levels 1-5, I felt like I was wasting my time here, but as I went to level 6 all that changed.

In level 6 we did some fun things like going to parties, or getting “slurpees” at Seven Eleven. Then on April 17, 1999 there was a camp for level six at a place called Shenandoah Springs. I was excited that I realized that I was singing at every meeting we had. Inside I felt warm and happy, and it was a feeling I've never experienced before. Then at night, a serving one told the level six kids about how to confess their sins.

I decided that I wanted to confess my sins to the Lord. As I did so, I felt something flowing inside. It was a good feeling to me. Then another serving one, stood up and said, “There was a seed planted inside of you by the Lord to grow as a baby Christian. Today was the Lord's victory!”

When the camp was over, I didn't feel like leaving yet, I wanted to stay and continue with the camp. Weeks passed by. I wasn't wasting my time doing other stuff, instead I was coming to church enjoying the Lord. Pretty soon I was thinking about baptism, and it was held on May 1, 1999 at the meeting hall. When it was my turn, I prayed that I was being saved and entering into the Lord's Kingdom. Then the two serving ones put me in the water. Now I can go to the Lord's table meeting and take the bread and wine.

Another older brother gave me some advice. He said that when you wake up just say, “Lord Jesus I love you, and thank you for loving me.”

Later on, July 25, 1999 there was a Summer School of Truth held at Dunn Loring. Kids from different states and localities came and I got to know some new people. It lasted for a week and I was really touched with all the lessons. When we came back to the Lord's table meeting, people from the truth school were asked to stand and speak to the church. I stood up with two others and we read a verse, then I went first to say something.

I talked about a lesson on redemption and how Jesus was willing to pay the price to die for us. It must be painful to be put on the cross, but Jesus is Lord!
